Dr. John Dyben
DHSC, MCAP, CMHP – Chief Clinical Officer
As Chief Clinical Officer, Dr. John Dyben oversees all Hanley Center and Headwaters clinical programs. In this role, he strategically guides program evolution, ensuring the organization continues to deliver excellence in care and the highest quality patient experience. John continually builds upon his academic expertise through research and nationwide speaking engagements on health science, spirituality, clinical ethics, and related topics.
Dr. Dyben’s academic training includes a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy, a Master of Arts in Conflict Management, a Master of Science in Management, a Doctor of Health Science, and postgraduate studies in psychology, philosophy, and religion. Dr. Dyben is a Master Certified Addictions Professional and a Certified Mental Health Professional in Florida. He is an Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor and a Substance Abuse Professional meeting all Federal DOT qualifications. Dr. Dyben is also a musician, writer, and private pilot, and he enjoys spending time with his family.

Dr. Angelo Asheh
M.D. – Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Angelo Asheh is a double-board certified physician with expertise in addiction, depression, anxiety, ADHD, psychopharmacology, prevention, and pain. His work includes a specialized focus on treating childhood trauma and social determinants of health. As Hanley Center’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Asheh oversees all medical operations, ensuring physicians, nurses, and other medical staff have the tools, training, and support they need to deliver world-class patient care.
Dr. Asheh has previously served as lead clinician for several renowned treatment centers nationwide. In addition to his work with Hanley, Dr. Asheh is a medical instructor at the University of California, Florida Atlantic University, and a REACH scholar through Yale University and AAAP. A recent research study he led, published in the Journal of Addiction Medicine in January 2023, on how childhood trauma contributes to addiction and overdose in adulthood, highlights the importance of screening for adverse childhood experiences and overdose when assessing patients for treatment.
Dr. Asheh completed his training at some of the country’s most prestigious institutions, including Yale University, University of California San Diego, Loma Linda University, University of Connecticut, and Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.

Dr. Stacy Grossman
Psy.D. , QS – Clinical Director – Center for Brain Recovery
Dr. Stacy Grossman, Psy.D., QS, is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Qualified Supervisor and is the Clinical Director of the Center for Brain Recovery at Hanley. Since joining the organization in 2013, she has overseen the Center for Older Adult Recovery, Detox, and CBR, providing clinical leadership and supervision to ensure high-quality, compassionate care. Stacy earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, followed by an M.S. in Clinical Psychology and a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University.
Her extensive career in the substance use disorder field includes work in mental health, substance abuse treatment, and psychological testing. She has provided therapy and assessments in private practice for both adults and children and served in an outpatient adult mental health clinic. She has also taught and trained professionals in areas including addiction treatment in the LGBTQ+ community, HIV/AIDS, domestic violence, and psychopathology. Stacy’s personal philosophy and Hanley’s mission align closely: that the whole person must be treated, mind, body, and spirit, using evidence-based resources and accessible tools. Passionate about helping people get well, she also values time with her family and caring for her beloved cats.

Ursula Avilus
DNP, PMHNP-BC – Director of Medical Services
Ursula is a dedicated healthcare professional with extensive experience in psychiatric nursing, nursing leadership, and social work. She joined Hanley Center in 2018 as Director of Nursing and now serves as the Director of Medical Services, where she oversees patient care with a focus on compassionate, evidence-based treatment. Ursula holds a Bachelor of Social Work, a Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Administrative and Financial Leadership from Florida Atlantic University, a nursing degree from Excelsior College, and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) degree from Rivier University.
Before joining Hanley, Ursula worked in the Florida State Hospital System and in Texas, where she provided care for civil and forensic psychiatric patients. She is passionate about treating addictive disorders and mental health conditions, with a commitment to finding the right combination of therapies and medications to provide patients with lasting relief. Dedicated to breaking the stigma around mental illness, Ursula also values the role of spirituality in healing and its connection to overall well-being. Outside of her professional role, she enjoys traveling and spending quality time with her family.

Vidya Nair
MSW, LCSW – Clinical Director – Headwaters and Casa Flores
Vidya is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Clinical Director of Headwaters and Casa Flores, our women’s perinatal program at Hanley Center. With more than a decade of experience in trauma-focused social work, clinical supervision, and program development, she specializes in women’s mental health, perinatal recovery, and child and family therapy. Vidya is certified in EMDR, TF-CBT, Play Therapy, and the Safe and Sound Protocol, and she is currently pursuing her Doctor of Social Work at Florida Atlantic University.
Passionate about advancing mental health equity, Vidya integrates evidence-based trauma treatments with culturally responsive care to support women, children, and families navigating complex recovery journeys. She has led the development of specialized perinatal substance use programs, provided trauma therapy across multiple treatment settings, and trained multidisciplinary teams in best practices. Vidya is committed to bridging clinical practice, research, and policy to create sustainable, systemic change in maternal and family mental health.

Eulices Montiel-Fernandez
LCSW, QS – Clinical Director of Residential Mental Health
Eulices joined the team in 2024 as Clinical Director for the Residential Mental Health program and Hanley Center Counseling. He holds a master’s degree in clinical social work from New York University and has served as a New Jersey Clinical Social Work Supervisor since 2007 and a Florida Qualified Supervisor since 2021. With over two decades of leadership and clinical experience, Eulices has directed multiple residential treatment facilities in South Florida and an outpatient community mental health center in New Jersey, maintained a private practice since 2003, and worked in psychiatric emergency rooms, screening centers, and inpatient facilities.
Passionate about equity in care, Eulices is dedicated to advocating for underserved and underprivileged individuals, ensuring they have access to the mental health and substance use treatment they need. He believes in promoting fairness and dignity for all, regardless of their circumstances, and is committed to guiding individuals on their path to healing and recovery.

Samantha Manchester
LCSW, QS – Clinical Director – Center for Men’s Recovery & Patriots Initiative
Samantha is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Qualified Supervisor who joined Hanley in October 2025 as Clinical Director for the Center for Men’s Recovery and Patriots Initiative. In this role, she supports clinicians with their caseloads, provides supervision, and works closely with families to ensure the highest quality of care. Samantha is passionate about guiding and mentoring clinicians as they advance in their careers, shaping the next generation of mental health professionals. She earned her Master of Social Work from Florida Atlantic University in 2019 and has since worked in a variety of therapeutic roles, with extensive experience supporting adults facing substance use disorders and chronic mental illness.
Since 2020, Samantha has focused much of her work on active-duty military members and veterans, creating a treatment track that addresses military-specific issues and helps individuals reintegrate into civilian life. As the spouse of an Army veteran, she brings both professional expertise and personal passion to this work. Outside of her role at Hanley, Samantha enjoys cooking and experimenting with new recipes. She and her husband are also preparing to welcome their first child, a baby boy, in November 2025, marking a new and joyful chapter in their lives.

Tara Paparo
CAC, ICADC – DIRECTOR OF ALUMNI SERVICES
Tara is a Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) and an Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ICADC). Tara came to Hanley in 2008 as a volunteer with a passion for helping people and their families recover from substance use disorders. Tara became an employee and worked in many departments over the years, such as Admissions, Continuing Care, Human Resources, Family Program, and Executive Assistant to our Executives and Clinical Director. She encourages each person preparing for discharge to attend the many support groups that are offered weekly, in person or virtual. Tara and her team stay in contact with all alumni via phone, email, and text. Tara loves spending time with her family, husband, children, grandchildren, and dogs.

Lance Woodley
Th.M, MSW, LISW, CCTP, CAGCS – Chaplain & Spiritual Care Coordinator
Lance joined Hanley in 2021 as Chaplain and Spiritual Care Coordinator, providing spiritual care, emotional support, and counseling to individuals and families during times of crisis, loss, illness, or significant life transition. A Licensed Psychotherapist, Lance also holds certifications as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), Certified Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist (CAGCS), Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS), and Certified Mental Health Nutrition Specialist (CMNCS). With more than 20 years of ministry and pastoral leadership experience, he integrates spiritual care with evidence-based mental health practices, ensuring holistic support that respects diverse beliefs and values. His background includes pastoral leadership, clinical counseling, and chaplaincy work in hospitals, community settings, and faith-based organizations.
Passionate about walking with people through life’s most difficult seasons, Lance is dedicated to helping individuals find meaning, hope, and resilience. He has developed spiritually integrated counseling programs, provided critical incident response in high-stress environments, and led trainings on resilience, mental health, and spiritual wellness. His work has earned recognition for compassionate, culturally competent care, including the 2018 Unsung Hero Award in Hamilton, Ohio. Outside of his professional role, Lance enjoys music, powerlifting, and meaningful time in community.

Cara Bantom-O’Neill
LMHC, MCAP – Primary Therapist – Center for Women’s Recovery and Casa Flores
Cara Bantom-O’Neill, LMHC, MCAP, rejoined Hanley in 2024 as a Primary Therapist for the Center for Women’s Recovery and Casa Flores programs, bringing experience across nearly every area of the organization. In her over a decade of previous service at Hanley, she served in roles including Recovery Advocate, Alumni Services, Continuing Care, Admissions, and leadership positions. As a Hanley alum with over 20 years in recovery, Cara offers both professional expertise and personal insight, providing compassionate, informed care to help individuals build a strong foundation for long-term sobriety.
Passionate about recovery and the transformative impact it can have, Cara is dedicated to helping people not only get sober but stay sober. She values the opportunity to give back to the community that played a role in her own journey, and takes pride in holding professional licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Master’s-Level Addiction Professional. Outside of work, Cara treasures time spent with her family, considering it one of life’s greatest gifts.

Ali C. Simpson
RCSW – Primary Therapist – Center for Older Adult Recovery
Ali joined Hanley in 2025 as a Primary Therapist, providing individual and group therapy for older adults whose path has led them to substance use. She works with patients to explore the 12-Step principles, understand the timelines of their addiction, and create a purposeful, healthier lifestyle. Ali also facilitates family sessions when appropriate to strengthen support systems. A Registered Clinical Social Worker, she earned her degree from Florida Atlantic University and holds certifications as a Certified Heart-Centered Hypnotherapist and Reiki Practitioner Level II. Her training includes work through The Wellness Institute and Heart Centered Personal Healing.
Before joining Hanley, Ali served as a Primary Therapist and Group Facilitator at local behavioral health facility. She is passionate about research, teaching, theory, and metaphysics, personal growth, and brings 19 years of personal recovery. Ali has designed and led mindfulness groups incorporating chakra affirmations, sound bowls, and tuning forks, and has facilitated multiple clearing processes integrating Carl Jung’s shadow work techniques. She has also been a guest speaker at Florida Atlantic University, presenting a therapeutic model that blends hypnosis, trauma-informed care, and transpersonal elements with evidence-based modalities to support healing and transformation.

Ellie Chasen
LCSW – Primary Therapist – Center for Older Adult Recovery
Ellie joined Hanley in July 2025 as a Primary Therapist at the Center for Older Adult Recovery. In her role, she provides individual and group therapy, family counseling, discharge planning, and support strategies to help clients improve mental health and maintain sobriety. Ellie earned her Master of Social Work and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. She is also a Qualified Supervisor for Clinical Social Work Interns.
Before joining Hanley, Ellie gained extensive experience as a PHP/IOP Therapist, Behavioral Health Specialist, Assessment Specialist, Crisis Intervention Counselor, and Case Manager. Her background includes working in therapeutic foster homes, serving as a hospital discharge planner, providing family therapy, and supporting individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. Ellie is passionate about improving the quality of life for others and is committed to guiding patients and families toward resilience, healing, and hope.

Roman Lockshin
MA, MBA, RMHCI – Primary Therapist – Center for Older Adult Recovery
Roman joined Hanley in 2023 as a Primary Therapist at the Center for Older Adult Recovery, where he provides compassionate care to patients navigating addiction and mental health challenges later in life. A Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern, Roman brings a unique and diverse background to his clinical work. Born in Leningrad, Soviet Union (now St. Petersburg, Russia), he immigrated to the United States as a teenager and pursued classical violin, performing at Carnegie Hall in 1991 before earning a Bachelor of Music from the Manhattan School of Music in 1993. He later transitioned into finance, earning his MBA in Finance from Baruch College in 1998 and becoming a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) in 2001.
After witnessing the events of September 11th while working at the New York Mercantile Exchange, Roman left Wall Street to pursue entrepreneurship, building a career in the marine industry and founding a boutique Florida yacht brokerage in 2019. In 2022, he began a new chapter in clinical mental health counseling, completing a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at South University. Today, Roman integrates his life experiences, resilience, and dedication to service in his work as a Primary Therapist at Hanley’s Center for Older Adult Recovery, helping patients find healing, purpose, and connection.

Emily Watter
LCSW – Primary Therapist – Residential Mental Health
Emily joined the team in 2024 as a Primary Therapist for Hanley’s Residential Mental Health Program. She provides a safe and supportive environment where patients and families feel heard, validated, and empowered. Emily conducts biopsychosocial assessments and develops individualized treatment plans that address each patient’s needs, goals, strengths, and barriers. She leads individual, family, and group sessions utilizing evidence-based approaches including CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care to address symptoms, patterns, trauma, coping skills, and personal growth. Emily earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Services from Elmira College, her Master of Social Work from Barry University, and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
With more than six years of experience in treatment centers, and previous work in BA receiving facilities and state psychiatric hospitals, Emily is passionate about helping individuals overcome challenges that impact their mental health and relationships. She is dedicated to guiding patients toward recognizing their own strengths, building resilience, and developing healthy coping skills. Outside of her work at Hanley, Emily is building her private practice, working toward EMDR certification, and proudly celebrates over a decade in recovery.

Efelin Salgado
MS, RCMH – Family Therapist – Family Services
Efelin joined Hanley in 2025 as a therapist in the Family Services department. She earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and her Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership Management from Palm Beach Atlantic University. Efelin has experience supporting individuals with depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, bipolar disorder, and substance use disorders, working in both recovery-focused and trauma-informed settings. Her clinical training includes EMDR, the Gottman Method, and trauma-informed care, and she brings an authentic, empathetic approach that fosters empowerment, hope, and healing.
Before joining Hanley, Efelin built a diverse career across education, community services, and nonprofit organizations. She served as a Developmental Specialist at The Arc of Palm Beach County, providing early intervention services for children and families; worked in student support, IEP coordination, and family outreach for the School District of Palm Beach County; and held administrative roles at Palm Beach Atlantic University, where she supported the launch of their second PhD program. Efelin has also contributed to various faith-based initiatives, always dedicated to strengthening families and building supportive communities.

Michael Friedman
RMHCI – Primary Therapist – Center for Men’s Recovery
Michael began his career at Hanley in 2022 as a clinical intern and recovery advocate, later serving as a detox counselor before moving into his current role as Primary Therapist on the Men’s Unit. He earned his master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from South University, graduating with high honors, and is a Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern. Michael is trained in EMDR, CBT, and DBT and is also a Certified Veteran and Military Mental Health Professional.
With nearly a decade in recovery himself, Michael is passionate about helping others find healing and sobriety. His personal journey with addiction allows him to connect with patients on a deeper level, offering both empathy and understanding in their treatment process. Outside of his clinical work, Michael draws on his background as an undergraduate music major and continues to play daily using music as both a personal coping skill and a source of joy.

Bailee Mancil
MHC, RMHI – Lead Detox Therapist
Bailee joined Hanley in 2024 as Lead Detox Therapist, supporting patients at the earliest stage of their recovery journey. In her role, she provides emotional support, helps individuals navigate the challenges of withdrawal, and fosters a safe, compassionate environment where patients feel heard and cared for. Bailee also maintains open communication with families, offering reassurance and guidance to help them better understand and support their loved one’s treatment process.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling with a focus on trauma and addiction. Before entering the counseling field, Bailee taught first grade and later served as a Student Development Coordinator for a university’s first-year student program. She is passionate about walking alongside individuals and families as they take meaningful steps toward recovery and finds purpose in creating environments where patients feel empowered to heal and grow. Completing her master’s degree while gaining hands-on clinical experience marked an important milestone in her career, and she is proud to dedicate her work to guiding patients with compassion and hope.

Joseph “YM” Goldberg
RMHCI, ASAT-C – Primary Therapist – Hanley Center Counseling
YM joined Hanley Center in 2025, bringing clinical expertise in the treatment of compulsive sexual behavior, men’s intimacy disorders, substance use disorders, eating disorders, and co-occurring mental health concerns. He holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University and is a Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern in the state of Florida. YM is also pursuing advanced training toward Certified Sex Addiction Therapist credentialing, expanding his specialization in process addictions and intimacy disorders. His experience includes work in partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and residential treatment settings, integrating evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and the Carnes 30-task model.
YM is passionate about reducing stigma around substance use, eating disorders, and compulsive sexual behavior while helping individuals cultivate healthier, more authentic relationships with themselves and others. His achievements include developing group curricula based on the Carnes 30-task framework, contributing to family programming on generational trauma and family-of-origin dynamics, and advancing care for those with co-occurring addictions. Outside of work, YM enjoys music, songwriting, playing guitar, attending metal festivals, and spending time with his Shiba Inu, Bear.

Sarah Roda
M.S. – Associate Therapist – Residential Mental Health
Sarah joined Hanley in 2025 as an Associate Therapist at the residential mental health program after completing her clinical internship with the organization beginning in August 2024. She earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lynn University and is currently pursuing her Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI) license in Florida. Sarah is PATH certified in equine-assisted psychotherapy and also holds certification in hypnosis from the National Guild of Hypnotists. In her role, she provides individual and group counseling, treatment planning, and client support within a structured, trauma-informed environment.
Sarah is passionate about helping individuals build resilience, self-awareness, confidence, and authenticity through client-centered, trauma-informed care. She has designed and facilitated therapeutic groups focused on various topics including relapse prevention, resilience, and self-regulation, and brings two years of active practice in equine-assisted psychotherapy. Transitioning from intern to Associate Therapist after completing her graduate studies, she continues to pursue licensure and ongoing professional development to deepen her clinical expertise.

Madeline Kramer
BA, EMDR Certified – Associate Therapist – Center for Men’s Recovery
Madeline joined Hanley in 2025 as an Associate Therapist at the Center for Men’s Recovery. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Currently pursuing her Master of Social Work with the goal of becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Madeline provides trauma-informed care and supports individuals as they begin their recovery journey.
Passionate about helping both men and women heal from the impact of trauma, Madeline is committed to guiding patients in building resilience and creating meaningful lives in recovery. Her professional journey reflects a dedication to ongoing growth and a deep belief in the power of compassion and understanding to foster healing and transformation.
