Compassionate Care for Pregnant Women and Their Babies
Compassionate Care for Pregnant Women and Their Babies Facing Substance Use Disorder
At Hanley Center’s Casa Flores, we offer the highest level of comprehensive care for pregnant women struggling with substance use disorders. Our specialized, in-residence program provides a safe and supportive environment for mothers as they receive medical, psychological, and clinical treatment to begin their recovery journey.
A Healing Community for Pregnant Women
Expectant mothers in our Casa Flores program will live on-site in Hanley Center’s newest living and learning community. This allows them to receive continuous, personalized care while focusing on their health, well-being, and preparation for motherhood. With our integrated approach, moms have access to a full range of treatments aimed at addressing their substance use disorders, while also ensuring they receive prenatal care tailored to their unique needs.
Postpartum Care for Mothers and Babies
Recovery doesn’t end with childbirth. After delivery, mothers continue living in-residence with their newborns, where they receive continued support for their substance use disorder. Our program is designed to provide postpartum moms with crucial parenting support and individualized treatment plans to help prevent the need for foster care placement. We understand that maintaining the bond between mother and baby is essential, which is why our mother-baby suites foster attachment and help moms connect deeply with their infants.
Expanding Our Reach
Currently, in 2024, Casa Flores serves five pregnant women. However, we are growing to meet the increasing demand. By 2026, we plan to expand our program to accommodate 12 pregnant women and 12 mother-baby suites, allowing us to help even more families overcome the challenges of substance use disorder.
The Data Speaks Volumes
- Opioid-exposed newborns have continued to rise since 2004.
- 20 million people are impacted by substance use disorder each year.
- 5% of pregnant women in Florida use substances, both licit and illicit.
- 130% increase in maternal opioid-related diagnoses was seen from 2010 to 2017.

Exceptional Staff and Collaborative Care
At Casa Flores, we work with community healthcare partners to deliver the highest level of medically managed care for both mother and baby. Partnerships with local institutions such as Healthcare District, St. Mary’s, Jupiter Medical Center, Wellington Hospital, and local OB-GYN and pediatric offices ensure that moms and their newborns receive the best possible birth outcomes and long-term recovery support.
Our medical team, including doulas, therapists, case managers, and behavioral health technicians, has specialized training in working with perinatal women. This team offers one-on-one doula care and ensures that both mom and baby receive personalized treatment throughout their stay.
Breaking the Cycle of Trauma and Addiction
We believe in the power of healing through connection. Casa Flores adheres to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) “Clinical Guidance for Treating Pregnant and Parenting Women with Substance Use Disorder and their Infants.” Our focus is on ending generational cycles of trauma and substance use, creating a pathway for families to experience a hopeful future.
Mother-Baby Bonding: Our suites are designed to preserve infant attachment, allowing mothers to build intimate, lifelong connections with their babies while working toward sobriety.
Three-Phase Program for Long-Term Support
Casa Flores follows a three-phase program, supporting mothers from pregnancy through postpartum recovery and beyond:
- Phase One: Pregnancy and the first three months postpartum, focusing on stabilization, trauma recovery, and parenting skills.
- Phase Two: Three to nine months postpartum, with a focus on trauma processing, relapse prevention, and transition planning.
- Phase Three: Nine months postpartum and beyond, concentrating on housing, employability, higher education, trauma processing, parenting support, and family reunification.
